What a great time everyone had on the recent "Melodies of the Danube" cruise hosted by Alan (and his accordion) from Budapest to Vilshofen. We were scheduled to begin our cruise in Budapest, but with the unusually low water levels on the Danube, the ship couldn't reach the city. Quite a few of us arrived in Budapest a few days early, so we were still able to see the sights without missing much. On embarkation day, we boarded comfortable coaches for the relatively short drive (less than 2 hours) to Bratislava where we began our cruise on the virtually identical ship, AmaBella. We spent a day+ in Bratislava followed by 2 full days in the beautiful city of Vienna, with a bonus excursion to Kreuzenstein Castle. At that point, our schedule was back on track! We spent time in the lush Wachau Valley of Austria enjoying the towns of Dürnstein and Weissenkirchen, tasting wines and apricot specialties of the region, while later visiting the gorgeous Melk Abbey and gardens. We then sailed to Linz, (with full day excursion options of Salzburg or the medieval town of Česky Krumlov), Grein, and Passau. The evening before we disembarked in Vilshofen, there was an Oktoberfest celebration with live music, beer, and pretzels in a permanent AmaWaterways pavilion. Alan performed twice aboard the ship, once for the group at our private event in The Chef's Table restaurant, and once for everyone on the ship in the Lounge (before the Oktoberfest celebration) to get everyone in the mood. Manfred joined in the merriment by singing along with Alan, and leading everyone in "99 Luftballons". All week long there was fine dining onboard, live local entertainment, and so much more! After disembarking, quite a few of us continued the fun into gorgeous Prague for several more days. Prague has the distinction of never being bombed or damaged during either of the World Wars, so you see it in all it's beauty. It was an amazing and memorable vacation!

BUT, the party isn't over...and you're invited!!!

We'll be bringing the same excitement and fun adventures to the AmaLucia with Christmas Markets on the Rhine 2028, sailing November 30 through December 7, 2028 from Basel, Switzerland to Amsterdam, Netherlands. Friendship, music, and celebrations abound with the magical and festive European holiday atmosphere everywhere! And, our travel agent, Nicole, will celebrate turning 65 on this voyage so you don't want to miss that party as well!

Cabins sell out quickly for the Christmas Market sailings, and things are beginning to tighten a bit. There is currently a $1,000-per-person savings, but promotions can change or disappear at any time, so don't delay!! The sooner you book, the more options you will have with accommodations on the ship!
